EYFS Vision - To be the best we can be
Children
At St. Augustine’s it is our intent that all children in Early Years are happy, independent and resilient. We want them to have the confidence to try new things, challenge themselves and have good self- awareness
Standards and Progress
At the start of the academic year, the Early Years staff spend time observing the children to assess them and create a rigorous Baseline across the 17 areas of the Foundation Stage. The staff then work to ensure there are high, sustained rates of progress, taking into account the starting points of each individual child.
Staff
The Early Years staff strongly believe in good team work to ensure there is a consistent approach to the teaching and learning of the children. They are pro-active rather than reactive. They have a good knowledge of all the children and their starting points. They are highly skilled at encouraging independence and questioning the children in their play.
Environment
It is our vision to create an engaging learning environment for all the children. The planning allows for a mixture of continuous and enhanced learning activities which are designed to give children, particularly the most disadvantaged, the knowledge, self-belief and cultural capital they need to succeed.
